International Management Department and the Center for Research on Organizations and Workplaces (CROW) at Kozminski University seek prospective doctoral students / teaching assistants (asystent/ka) or assistant professors (adiunkt) to hire for a tenure track position.
An ideal candidate in the case of a teaching assistant:
- has their Master diploma finished recently, or will have it finished until the time of appointment,
- speaks fluent English at C2 level (to the extent that s/he is able to teach and write academic papers in this language),
- is highly motivated to pursue an academic career and write an outstanding Ph.D.
An ideal candidate in the case of an assistant professor:
- has received their Ph.D. degree recently or is about to receive it soon,
- speaks fluent English at C2 level (to the extent that s/he is able to teach and write academic papers in this language),
- is highly motivated to pursue an academic career and write an outstanding habilitation,
- has a publication record of high quality (while not necessarily quantity) and is ostensibly oriented at top tier publications in the future.
People with prior degrees in anthropology, sociology, management, psychology, international relations, as well as in other social sciences are particularly encouraged to apply. An ideal candidate should have a good command of qualitative methods (or quantitative methods, while having some basic understanding of the qualitative ones), be interested in sociology or anthropology of organization, or in management and organization studies. Fluency in Polish is considered to be an asset, but is not a requirement.
In the case of a Ph.D. candidate the Ph.D. topic should be discussed with the research team. Chiming in with the current research interests of the team would definitely be advantageous. These include virtual communities studies (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WoW, etc.), open collaboration communities (such as Wikipedia, FLOSS, etc.), knowledge-intensive organizations, organizational identity (including the topics of the social construction of gender), storytelling, or professionalization of occupations and institutionalization of social roles. Other topics related to innovations and new technologies are also welcome.
We offer a possibility to work in a team of young researchers, with significant international exposure (gained through long-term research stays at e.g. Cornell University, Harvard University, University of California Berkeley, Stanford University, et al.), in a fairly a-hierarchical environment. The team’s achievements so far, including publications on the JCR list, as well as winning most of the awards available for young researchers in Poland, allow for academic development meeting the international standards.

The offered position requires beginning work in October 2013 or, in justified circumstances, from February 2014 onwards. The applications will be evaluated on 30 June 2013, 30 August 2013, 30 October 2013, and 30 December 2013, until suitable candidates are selected (1-2 positions will be offered). The applicants are requested to indicate if they are interested in being reviewed in all rounds of reviews, should they not be selected in the first one they apply to, and to specify the position they are applying for.
